So here we are, October of 2008, and PDC is being held again after four long years. I was at the last one and must say I have been looking for to this one ever since.
Rumor has it Microsoft has all sorts of goodies planned for us --
include an eraly beta of the upcomming Windows 7.
Right now I am on a plane heading out to vegas (small side trip) and outside of being dissapointed by US Airw "let's charge for everything including water" policy the trip is starting off well.
Stay tunes for updates and pictures as I am sure there will be lots to talk about come sunday.

After a rather fun side trip to Las Vegas (more about this later). I arrived in LA on Saturday so I could attend the pre-confrence session on SilverLight before diving into the frenze that is PDC. The seasion was put on by wintellect and ran all day and I must say I was impressed with all of it. From the content to the speaker it was well put together and was very informative. I had a basic understanding of silverlight going in and now I feel like I am ready to start writting full apps in it. SilverLight is going to be a game changer for the Microsoft web developer! Microsoft delivers an integrated solution that extends document management to all employees. By recognizing that a document’s lifecycle begins the moment it is created and does not end until it is destroyed, organizations can achieve wide adoption and enforcement of enterprise standards, resulting in decreased management costs and reduced corporate risk.

The new Microsoft Office Labs group recently released a rather interesting tool for excel.
"Chart Advisor is a prototype that provides an alternate approach for creating charts in Excel 2007. This add-in uses an advanced rules engine to scan your data and, based on predefined rules, displays charts according to score. Top scoring charts are available for you to preview, tweak, and insert into your Excel worksheet."
